He is best known for his productions on his own label "Sonic Mind" as well as for his collaborations with long-time friend Jay Denham (Vice). This single regroups four "old school" techno tracks of good vintage. In the past few years Kalamazoo, Michigan has gained a great reputation for producing excellent hard detroit-flavored techno. Artists & labels that have perpetuated that reputation are Jay Denham, Black Nation Records, Damon Peterson, Fanon Flowers, Mechanisms Industries Records, Aaron Bennett, Sonic Mind Records, and Donnell Knox to name a few. Donnell has previously released material under his D Knox guise on the Morbid, Magic Trax, Black Nation, and his own Sonic Mind label. Also on his Sonic Mind label, Donnell has also released material as Spirit Man with Fanon Flowers and as Last Generation with Jay Denham & Fanon Flowers. On his Elypsia ep, Self-Conscious, Donnell goes under his D Knox guise and he delivers four tracks of slamming deep Detroit techno that combines the best of Kalamazoo hard percussion and Detroit soulful melodies. Thanks to Lance McGannon Artist Record label started with 1st release in 1994 as Sonic - Mind Records Donnell was making music thru his Jr High and High School career, mainly hip - hop at that time. His mother introduced him to music already at age 6 with teaching him piano for many years later drums and percussions. At age 16 he bought his first TECHNICS 1200's hundreds and begin to play a lot of local parties, playing house music/ hip hop/ rock pop. At age 18 he started recording techno music, and storing many tracks/ songs on Reel to Reel tapes. Most of those recordings never got released, I guess he was making it for himself. During those years he had met most of the Detroit & Chicago artists. Year 1996 would be his first tour ever in Europe. Countries he has visited then: Belgium and Germany. That was the beginning of other tours in different countries like: USA/ England/ Scotland/ France/ Germany/ Czech Republic/ Poland/ Switzerland/ Singapore/ Japan/ Belgium/ Holland.
