a group of cedarians from the graduating class of 2006, brought free hugs to cedar last year; on the last day of school, 26th october 2006, during the recess break. --- 'free hugs' is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr3x_RRJdd4 my friends and i brought the "free hugs" campaign to our school with good intention - out of grace and positive nature. and the activity was very evidently wholesome and healthy, none of our intentions were of evil. moreover, i would not think anyone would feel upset about getting a hug; and participating or responding to our 'free hugs' was not forced; people came up to us voluntarily. banning "free hugs" is demanding. but deeming it offensive is outrageous. we did attract wanted attention with our 'free hugs' signs, walking around the school. but we did not in anyway disrupt usual activity with unruly conduct; in fact it was during the school recess break did we conduct the 'free hugs' excercise when the dining hall and other parts of the school were noisy and crowded with students and teachers. a small group of us would not be power, enough to disrupt peace and order in an already chaotic condition during recess break; always known to bring life to the school with the expected ruckus. hence the claim of 'free hugs' being disruptive offensive would be invalid - taking into consideration that responding to "free hugs" was not in any event compulsory. still, "free hugs" in our school is now labeled as "offensive and disruptive behavior." we were reported by a small group of schoolmates lead by a single student leader, to school authority, who had earlier on recieved a free hug from us. we were stopped from spreading love and comfort on the last school day of the year through 'free hugs'. cause and effect ceased the good will other willing and enthusiastic cedarians and teachers were to recieve, and in turn give to others, spreading less of animosity but instead good feelings of caring and sharing. some students even expressed that they were comforted and thankful for the hug. i am at a loss for words to convey my feelings at such narrow minded opinions about sharing love, bringing forth comfort and affection to our fellow schoolmates - wholly voluntarily. authority insisted that 'free hugs' was unaccepted; and regarded as 'wrong'. we might never have 'free hugs' in our school ever again, however we hope to seek your support in clearing the misunderstood name of "free hugs", do watch the original "free hugs" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr3x_RRJdd4 "hugging willingly deemed offensive and disruptive", what is in such action? thank you, in good will! =D free hugs!, beat (cedar girls secondary school - class of 2006) [the clips in this video were taken by a nikon cool pix digital camera. audio: augustana - boston copeland - testing the strong ones bullet for my valentine - tears don't fall slipknot - pulse of the maggots aslyn - that's when i love you]
